Although genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified numerous risk loci, the functional interpretation of protein-altering missense variants remains limited. Objective: This study identified pathogenic missense variants linked to endometriosis risk using publicly available GWAS data and explored implications for genetic risk detection, particularly in underrepresented populations such as Indonesia. Methods: Endometriosis-associated missense single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified from GWAS data, and a total of eight missense SNPs were analyzed. Functional effects were evaluated in silico using PolyPhen-2 and SIFT. Allele frequency distributions were assessed across global populations, and pathway enrichment analysis was conducted using the Reactome database. Results: Several missense variants were significantly associated with increased endometriosis risk (e.g., rs75801644, OR = 3.88; rs144824657, OR = 3.52), while rs2341097 showed a potential protective effect. Functional prediction prioritized variants in genes such as KCNG2 and BSG as potentially damaging. Population analyses revealed marked allele frequency differences, and enriched pathways were related to potassium channel activity, metabolism, extracellular matrix organization, and signal transduction. Conclusion: This study identifies missense variants contributing to endometriosis susceptibility and provides insight into biological pathways. Further experimental validation and clinical studies are warranted.
Ichtiarini Nurullita Santri, Wirawan Adikusuma, Petrina Theda Philothra, Nurul Fadhliati Maulida, Rockie Chong, Ilker Ates, Yohane Vincent Abero Phiri, Lalu Muhammad Irham Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL KESEHATAN REPRODUKSI https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/407 Wed, 31 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 COMPARING HYPNOBREASTFEEDING AND OXYTOCIN MASSAGE EFFECTIVENESS ON BREAST MILK PRODUCTION https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/389
Background: Low exclusive breastfeeding rates are driven by maternal stress, fatigue, and low confidence, which hinder milk production. Non-pharmacological interventions are essential to enhance production. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of hypnobreastfeeding and oxytocin massage on breast milk production in nursing mothers. Method: The study design used a quasi-experimental two-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 32 breastfeeding mothers with infants aged 0–6 months, selected using consecutive sampling, with 16 respondents in each intervention group. The hypnobreastfeeding and oxytocin massage interventions were given for 15–20 minutes per day for 10 days. Breast milk production was measured through the frequency of urination and the increase in infant weight. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test. Results: The results showed the average weight of infants in the hypnobreastfeeding group was 5826.255 grams, while that in the oxytocin massage group was 6080.00 grams (p=0.001). The frequency of urination in the hypnobreastfeeding group was 8.71 times and in the oxytocin massage group was 8.81 times (p=0.000). Conclusion: Hypnobreastfeeding and oxytocin massage are effective in increasing breast milk production, but oxytocin massage results in a higher increase in infant weight gain, making it more recommended to support successful breastfeeding.
Putri Permata Sari, Novia Rita Aninora, Rionitara Wikarya Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL KESEHATAN REPRODUKSI https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/389 Wed, 31 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 THE IMPACT OF PRENATAL YOGA ON HIP PAIN AMONG THIRD-TRIMESTER PREGNANT WOMEN: A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/386
Background: Hip pain is a common musculoskeletal complaint during pregnancy and may reduce mobility and quality of life. Safe and effective non-pharmacological interventions are therefore needed. Prenatal yoga is commonly recommended to enhance physical comfort and well-being during pregnancy. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of prenatal yoga in reducing hip pain among pregnant women. Method: A randomized controlled trial was conducted at an independent midwifery practice from July to December 2023. A total of 240 pregnant women were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n = 120) and a control group (n = 120). The intervention group attended prenatal yoga sessions led by a certified instructor twice weekly for four weeks, with each session lasting 60 minutes. The control group received standard antenatal care only. Hip pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon, Mann–Whitney, and chi-square tests. Results: The prenatal yoga group showed a significantly greater reduction in hip pain compared to the control group (p = 0.030). Pain resolution occurred in 78.2% of the intervention group and 8.3% of controls (RR = 1.279). Conclusion: Prenatal yoga is effective in reducing hip pain among pregnant women.
Royani Chairiyah, Mella Yuria R.A, Dinni Randayani Lubis Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL KESEHATAN REPRODUKSI https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/386 Wed, 31 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 SELF-EFFICACY BASED SELF-CARE EDUCATION AND QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG WOMEN WITH EARLY MENOPAUSE: A QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY IN BOYOLALI REGENCY, CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/396
Background: Early menopause significantly affects women’s hormonal balance, emotional stability, and social well-being, often leading to reduced quality of life. This study examined the association between water or gel based lubricant use and condom failure, defined as leakage or breakage, among young MSM. Methods: Data were drawn from the 2018–2019 Integrated Biological and Behavioral Survey (IBBS), a cross-sectional survey in 24 provinces. Of 6,000 MSM, 2,213 respondents aged 15–25 years were recruited using Respondent Driven Sampling (RDS). Logistic regression in STATA 16 assessed associations, adjusting for circumcision status and number of male sexual partners.

Results: Condom failure in the past month was reported by 8.8% of respondents, and 66.3% used water-based lubricants. Non-use of water- or gel-based lubricants was associated with higher adjusted odds of condom failure, but not statistically significant (AOR 1.79; 95% CI 0.79–4.05). Condom failure was more common among those reporting more male clients. Circumcision status was also related, with lower odds of failure among uncircumcised participants. Conclusions: Water-based lubricant use was not significantly linked to reduced condom failure. Improving condom-use skills, promoting compatible lubricants, and targeting MSM with multiple partners remain important for reducing condom failure and HIV/STI risks.
Sherly Novita Mamoribo, Mona Safitri Fatiah Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL KESEHATAN REPRODUKSI https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/393 Wed, 31 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Psychometric of Triple Elimination Knowledge Questionnaire for Healthcare Workers: A Pilot Study https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/401
Background: The Triple Elimination Programme aims to reduce mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B, making the assessment of health workers’ knowledge about these infections essential for monitoring its success.

Objective: This study evaluates the psychometric properties of the Triple Elimination Knowledge Questionnaire using Classical Test Theory and Structural Equation Modeling to ensure reliability and validity.

Methods: A 42-person cross-sectional study was conducted. Structural modelling revealed that triple-elimination knowledge significantly predicted HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis knowledge domains (β = 0.613–0.805, p < 0.001).

Conclusion: The questionnaire demonstrated strong reliability and validity, suggesting its usefulness for assessing healthcare workers’ knowledge in the triple elimination programme.
Reynie Purnama Raya, Angga Wilandika, Giari Rahmilasari, Santi Nur Holizah Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL KESEHATAN REPRODUKSI https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/401 Wed, 31 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 PREMARITAL SEXUAL BEHAVIOR AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN SURABAYA: PATTERNS, MOTIVATIONS, AND SOCIAL INFLUENCES https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/395
Background: Premarital sexual behavior among young people remains a critical reproductive health concern, particularly in urban university settings where permissive lifestyles and strong peer influence prevail.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the patterns, motivations, and social influences underlying premarital sexual behavior among university students in Surabaya. Methods: A qualitative case study was conducted between January and June 2023. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 11 informants aged 19–24 years, consisting of five students who engaged in premarital sexual behavior, five peer informants, and one key informant. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis with open coding, and credibility was ensured through source triangulation. Results: Sexual activities ranging from petting to sexual intercourse, occurring within romantic relationships and Friends with Benefits (FWB) arrangements, were widely perceived as normative. Motivations varied by gender, with male participants citing biological drives and female participants emphasizing emotional intimacy. Peer groups played a dominant role in normalizing these behaviors, often outweighing parental and religious influences, which were constrained by cultural taboos. Conclusion: Premarital sexual behavior among university students has shifted toward more casual patterns, primarily driven by peer group norms. Universities should establish student-friendly counseling services and strengthen peer counselor programs to promote healthy relationships, consent, and harm reduction, rather than focusing solely on abstinence-based approaches.
Erwin Nur Rifah, Sri Affirda, Dwi Martiana Wati Copyright (c) 2025 JURNAL KESEHATAN REPRODUKSI https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journaliakmitangsel2.iakmi.or.id/index.php/kespro/article/view/395 Wed, 31 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000
